Have you ever wondered what the fly fishing was like in Montana 75 years ago? Does the thought of exclusive use of over 1900 acres of pristine Big Sky country with private access to Montana's premier dry fly stream perk your interest?

Montana Angler is excited to offer an exclusive package at the Circle P Fly Fishing Camp on Sixteen Mile Creek. With this all inclusive fishing vacation we'll take care of all of the details so that all you need to focus on is eating, fishing and relaxing.

Wake up each morning to hot coffee and a sizzling breakfast prepared by our camp chef and guides in our outdoor kitchen. After fueling up at breakfast, you will head out for a day of fishing on Sixteen Mile Creek or several other surrounding waters. On other days our guides will take you to other nearby private ranches or blue ribbon rivers for a day of float fishing or wading on spring creeks.

After a day on the water you will return to the ranch cabins to relax and enjoy a carefully prepared four course dinner followed by more fishing, a game of horseshoes, or just relaxing on the covered deck while sharing stories of the ones that didn't get away!
Accommodations
Two rustic cabins crafted of hand hewn logs are located on the ranch. We do not mix fishing parties at the Circle P so your group will have exclusive access to both cabins and the entire ranch. The larger cabin is equipped with a bathroom and fully stocked kitchen. The smaller cabin is equipped with a bathroom and several beds. Both cabins have an open floor plan (so there are no bedrooms within either cabin). Together the cabins have the capacity for 9 guests with a blend of queen size, full size and twin size beds (including 2 sets of bunks). A large covered deck overlooks Sixteen Mile Creek and the surrounding isolated ranch land and mountains.

The Ranch:
The Circle P Fly Fishing Ranch is located on 1920 gated acres with private access to Sixteen Mile Creek. The Circle P adjoins a massive ranch owned by Ted Turner where some scenes of "A River Runs Through It" were filmed. The Ranch is located about one hour north of the Bozeman airport in a remote and pristine setting that is largely composed of private ranch land and some National Forest. Several Blue Ribbon rivers are located with an hour to an hour and 15 minute drive including the Missouri, Gallatin, Madison and Yellowstone as well as 5 world famous spring creeks for fishing days off of the ranch. The setting is spectacular with great views of the surrounding mountains. The property is at the head of Sixteen Mile Canyon the fishing includes both meadow and canyon sections of Sixteen Mile.

Fishing is only one component of the Ranch experience. Many guests enjoy a long walk on the quiet ranch road or a hike onto the surrounding hills to take in the sweeping vistas. Swimming holes in the creek offer a welcome respite on a hot summer day and a horseshoe pit provides for some friendly competition while awaiting the sizzling steaks on the grill. A large covered deck with plenty of Adirondack chairs provide for plenty of opportunities for rest and relaxation.

The Fishing:
You won't read about Sixteen Mile Creek in many guidebooks or fishing magazines because nearly all of the stream falls on three large private ranches (one of which is the Circle P). The fishing on Sixteen Mile is entertaining and productive and in many ways it is the ideal wild trout stream. The creek is large enough to hold large trout but still small enough to provide easy access while wade fishing. The stream has a tremendous trout population with a mix of both rainbow and brown trout. A wide array of year classes are present with a great supply of hard fighting trout in the 14-17" range. Larger trout are frequently hooked and some very large trout frequently make their way into Sixteen Mile from the Missouri River. Catch rates can be high and the dry fly fishing is often outstanding. We have access to one of the most productive section of the stream where a large meadow area meets the Sixteen Mile canyon. The creek receives frequent rest days with zero fishing pressure to ensure that the trout on the ranch retain their wild nature. The massive ranches above and below the Circle P do not permit guided fishing and also serve as a great buffer to the Circle P Ranch fishery. We typically fish one full day at the ranch and then make "field trips" to other private ranches to fish other private spring creeks, canyon streams and meadow rivers. Sometimes we also mix in a float trip to legendary waters such as the Madison, Yellowstone, Gallatin, Missouri or Boulder Rivers.

Our fishing packages also include guided fishing on several other nearby blue ribbon trout fisheries. The Milesnick Ranch is located about 40 minutes way from the Circle P and is home to two outstanding spring creeks as well as the East Gallatin River. If we venture a bit farther we use our drift boats to float legendary rivers like the Madison, Yellowstone and Missouri. On a typical fishing vacation at the Circle P Fly Fishing Ranch you will enjoy a day or two of wade fishing at the Ranch with a few days of angling explorations to other world class fisheries.

Dining
Our camp chef and guides work hard to ensure that you will enjoy outstanding dining while at the Circle P. We set up an outdoor kitchen and prepare hearty breakfasts each morning that may include blueberry pancakes, bacon, omeletes, hot coffee, OJ, and fresh fruits. Lunches are generally picnic style but we often return to the cabins to grill bruats or chicken to break up our day on the water. Dinners are a multi course event that begin with a generous supply of appetizers while our guests enjoy some of the locally brewed beers we provide or a refreshing glass of wine. Entrees are often grilled on our outdoor fire pan and desserts are always home made. We frequently put to use cast iron dutch ovens over hot coals to prepare succulent side dishes or tasty desserts.
