Southwestern Montana is home to some of the greatest spring creek fly fishing in the world. Several of our guides are experts on these challenging fisheries and can help you understand the layers of difficulty that make these creeks so appealing to the world's best fly fishermen. These creeks originate from underground springs that produce cold clear water with ideal trout temperatures year round. This ideal habitat makes the spring creeks insect and trout factories. Because the food supply is so rich, it is imperative to have exactly the right patterns that imitate the correct insect at the correct time. Fishing our local Montana spring creeks is equivelant to golfing at Augusta National or St. Andrews. Spring creeks require additional rod fees of $100-$125 per angler. The Livingston Creeks: DePuy Spring Creek, Armstong Spring Creek and Nelson Spring Creek Just a short drive from Bozeman, The Livingston spring creek trio are probably the world's most famous and are a favorite of our guides. They feed into the larger Yellowstone and often benefit from large river fish that migrate into the creeks. Located in the heart of Paradise Valley, few fly fishing locations can rival their sublime beauty. Milesnick Spring Creeks The Milesnick Ranch is located just 10 minutes from the Bozeman airport. Benhart and Thompson spring creeks are found on the Milesnick Ranch. The Milesnick spring creeks are very similar to the Livingston creeks, but are a bit smaller and a offer slightly more challenging fly fishing due to very glassy currents. McCoy Spring Creeks McCoy spring creeks are located near Dillon which is about 50 minutes from Ennis and an hour and a half from Bozeman. There are two creeks on the ranch and is the only spring creek that designates a beat of the river to each pair of anglers ensuring that you will be the only ones fishing. The trout in the McCoy creeks are very large with trout with up to 24" present. |
