The Bighorn River is a legendary fishery that
is home to an astounding 7,500 trout per mile.
Forrester's Bighorn River Resort is the only
lodge located on the famed upper portion of the
tail water where trout numbers are highest.
Forrester's was recently named the 2010 Orvis
Endorsed Lodge of the Year based on the
outstanding reviews provided by their loyal
following of return guests that include Dick
Cheney, Phil Donahue and Bobby Knight.
Nick and Francine Forrester own and manage
the lodge and provide a warm and welcoming
environment with first class service. Francine's
unmatched talents in the kitchen are influenced
by her training in both Napa Valley and
Manhattan and the result is a diverse menu
that is sure to please.
The main lodge is built from hand crafted logs
and offers a large gourmet dinning area,
conference center, Orvis fly shop, gathering
area, and a cigar loft. Guests enjoy individual
log sleeping cabins with comfortable beds and
private baths. Each cabin has a porch
overlooking the river below.
Forrester's offers the best location on the
Bighorn and wade fishing directly in front of the
lodge is outstanding!
Dining
You will be hard pressed to find a better menu in all of Montana. The gourmet fare at Forrester’s will leave your mouth
watering with its ingredient-driven recipes and emphasis on flavor. Famous for blueberry pancakes, honey-cured, thick-cut
bacon and of course the specialty blends of organic coffee, the breakfast spread is fit for royalty. Later on, you’ll be served
lunch alongside the river in an outdoor setting that will surely be a feast for the eyes.
At dinner, the crew at Forrester's pays special attention to the balance between comfort and luxury and they go to great
lengths to purchase fresh, high-quality cuts of meat and fish. Produce is nothing but exceptional and herbs are grown in their
own garden. Please note that alcohol is not provided and not available in Fort Smith (Crow Reservation rules) but guests may
bring their own to the lodge.
