Gallatin River - The Gallatin River is a medium sized river that offers nice wade fishing and also some float fishing near its mouth. The river flows north from its origin in Yellowstone Park, past the town of Big Sky through the Gallatin Canyon, then through the pastoral Gallatin Valley to its confluence with the Missouri River. The Gallatin is a very picturesque river with crystal clear water and lots and lots of trout. The river is not known for trophy trout like some of the other larger rivers in the area, but the beauty of this river and its small intimate nature make this a favorite of many anglers. Because of the very high trout density, this river often produces fast action and high catch rates.
Lower Madison River - About an hour drive from the lodge, the lower Madison exits Bear Trap Canyon and flows north to the town of Three Forks where it meets up with the Jefferson and Gallatin rivers to the form the Missouri. The broad river has huge weedbeds that produce excellent habitat for aquatic insects. Some huge trout reside in this section of the Madison. It is a great spring and fall fishery, but mid summer water temperatures prevent good fishing in July and August most years. April through June and September through October is a great time of year to target this fishery.
Upper Madison River - The Upper Madison offers an amazing diversity of water from Yellowstone National Park to Ennis Lake. About an hour drive from the lodge will get you on one of the various sections of the Upper Madison, with each section offering unique characteristics. The Upper Madison is renowned for its incredibly consistent fishing throughout the year. Flowing through one of the most scenic valleys in Montana, the impressive scenery, high trout counts, and potential for trophy fish make this a must fish river for visiting anglers.
